What to have ready
- The full name of someone involved, spelled as on their driver license
- The date of the crash (a one-day range helps if it was near midnight)
- The county where it happened — CRIS searches by county, not city
- A card for the fee, if you buy online
- The crash or report number from the officer’s card, if you have it — the most reliable search
Can’t find your report?
- It is probably still early — officers have until the 10th day to file, and processing adds a few days.
- Search the other driver’s name instead of yours, and try a day either side of the crash date.
- Try the neighboring county if the crash was near a county line.
- Minor crashes with no injuries sometimes get no state report (CR-3) at all.
